Sticky: Five Building Blocks of Motivation!

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.

All right, you believe that positive living is unquestionably the way to go. You’re meeting and greeting the world with a confident attitude and your life is showing the signs already.  People are being influenced by your new attitude and are responding in kind.  You feel great and know that being positive really works!

Then something happens.  You get some bad news and you’re right back where you began! What happened to all your determination?  How can this happen?  What can you do to keep yourself motivated?

The answer?  A personal motivation plan.  And motivation is, as the word suggests, a motive for action.

Here are several suggestions to help get you started.Susan_Karim

1. Feed Yourself Motivation Every Day

Is it possible to be positive and optimistic all the time?  The simple answer – No!  Motivation doesn’t last, but if you apply yourself and keep yourself on track, you will have far more up days than down.  To stay continuously motivated, we have to feed ourselves “motivational food” every day.  Just as we need daily food for physical energy, we need to feed ourselves daily “motivational food” for mental energy.

2.  Build A Motivational Base

Read or listen to motivational material on a daily basis.  Visit your local library or bookstore and locate some inspirational material.  A well-written book that gives sound advice is far more motivating than reading about or listening to the latest crime stories or market declines.  Don’t have the time to read or don’t enjoy reading?  No problem!  Most in print books are also produced in an audio version.  Audio is wonderful to listen to because you can be doing something else while you are listening and learning.  A mere half hour a day listening to motivational tapes or CD’s in your car, while working out at the gym or just before going to bed will make a huge impact.

3.  Live A Healthy Lifestyle

With regular exercise, your body will work more effectively and efficiently.  The side benefit – you will enjoy life more.  When the body moves, the mind moves even more.  An active body promotes an even more active mind.  The mind is forced to become more organized whether you want it to or not.  We may be thinking about work while we are exercising, but we are able to develop far more creative solutions.  Set aside some time every week for exercise.  You will find that you are more productive when you return to your work.

4.  Participate In Enjoyable Activities

Seek out activities that give you true pleasure, things that excite you and allow your talents to shine.  This makes you feel good about yourself and promotes positive emotions.  When you enjoy what you are doing, you tend to excel and succeed more easily.  With each success, your self-esteem grows and motivates you to greater heights.  Suddenly, you feel that success comes naturally.

5.  Keep Reminding Yourself Of Your Goals

Clearly stated goals and action plans with deadlines ought to be written on paper.  Do whatever is necessary to achieve your goals.  Review your goals daily and develop a strong desire to attain each of those goals.  Our subconscious mind will begin to work on our behalf and steer our daily activities and actions toward attaining our goals.  If you know exactly what you want and want it strongly enough, then you will surely achieve it.  It’s amazing that what we do today has everything to do with where we’ll be six months from now.

In order to be successful and get ahead, you must always be motivated. All the motivation in this world will do nothing for you unless you ACT NOW. Apply these steps and believe that these are practical and effective guidelines. The results will surprise you!
